History of RCEAM

Rajasthan Council of Educational Administration and Management

The origin of RCEAM may be directly contributed to the occurrences that seemed unconnected at the time. One of these was the organization of Competency Based Institutional Management Education (COMBIME) programmes for the Principals of Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools in Udaipur. These COMBIME programmes were organized and conducted between 1989 to 1991 by the Department of Extension Services, Vidya Bhawan G. S. Teachers College, Udaipur in collaboration with the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi and the Udaipur District Education Office, Udaipur. These programmes got together the Principals of Higher Secondary and Secondary Schools to discuss, share, create act upon requisite competencies in the management of Education. By now the Principals were definitely more solution-oriented in their approach.

At this time the second occurrence gave an additional impetus. The Department of Educational Planning Management and Administration, Vidya Bhawan G. S. Institute of Educational Research and Training, Udaipur established links with the Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration, at the University of New England, Armidale, Australia and this led to serious thinking on the possibilities of establishing Rajasthan as part of the world wide network.

The School Principals and the Department of Educational Planning, Management and Administration, Vidya Bhawan G. S. Institute of Educational Research and Training, Udaipur were quick to perceive the many benefits that such a network would bring and with all speed, the Rajasthan Council for Educational Administration came into being.
